The full story
She grew up in Canada, and completed her first Bachelor’s degree at York University in Toronto: a BS with specialized honours in Kinesiology and Health Sciences. After moving to Dallas Texas, Lindsay received 2 more undergraduate degrees in Anatomy and Health and Wellness while concurrently pursuing her chiropractic education. She graduated from the esteemed Parker University in May of 2011 with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Following her qualifications she has run offices in Ghana and in Norway. She has been in the UK with her husband and young son since May 2017 and looks forward to calling England her forever home. They have since added a daughter to their family, born at home at the end of 2019. Lindsay is very passionate about what she does and is excited to welcome you and your family to D.O.T.S. Chiropractic.
Imagine your daughter born 5 weeks early – via Cesarean and weighing only 5lbs. Imagine her having to stay in an incubator for 11 days and you leaving the hospital without your firstborn child. And Imagine your little girl projectile vomiting when she finally does come home, losing weight and having to be readmitted to the hospital just 8 weeks later for a major operation: pyloric stenosis. That was the reality for my parents – and that was my rocky start to life.
I was weak. I was fully vaccinated. I was heavily medicated. And I was unhealthy – a “failure to thrive” prognosis with limited social skills and a lot of work ahead is what the doctors told my parents; and there absolutely was a lot of work ahead!I was plagued with constant ear infections and given multiple rounds of antibiotics which made my immune system work overtime and made me susceptible to sickness. I frequently had a cold – blowing and rubbing my nose to the point where the area between my nose and mouth were always red and raw. I had multiple allergies and my family changed their dietary habits to accommodate their young child. The antibiotics for my ear infections didn’t always work and on 5 separate occasions before I was 7 years old I had operations on my ears to have tubes inserted; my body knew innately that they were not supposed to be there and continued to reject the tubes. All I remember about that time is the dizzy, head-achy feeling of inhaling gas, and waking up with blood in my ears. These operations are a lot of stress on a small child and after each operation my hearing capacity was reduced. “What” and “huh” became my most used words as I learned to read lips and tried to adjust to my new reality.
When I was in grade one my mom went back to work full time – as a chiropractic assistant. As she was learning what chiropractic was, the chiropractor told her that there was a high chance that the bones in my spine were misaligned due to such a traumatic birth – the misalignment’s created interference in the communication between the brain and the body. When this happens dis-ease takes place and the body cannot appropriately adapt to stress, leading to impairment in healing, growth and function. Upon hearing this my mom began to get my younger sister and I checked and adjusted by a chiropractor . . . and my whole life changed. My allergies started going away, I was sick less often and my hearing began to return. I had dramatic improvements in my health and in my life. I excelled at sports, my grades were remarkable and I was a very social and energetic kid. I grew up from then on without drugs and antibiotics and started allowing my body to heal itself from the inside
It was that experience that called me to become a chiropractor. This beautiful profession chose me and it was the only thing I ever wanted to be growing up. I have now been a doctor of chiropractic for 4 and a half years, on three different continents and I am still, and forever will be, humbled by the Innate healing power of a body fully connected to itself.
